The PCL Net will be off that night. I've been busy with items for the Quarter Century Wireless Association (QCWA), with reawakening Chapter 158 in central Arkansas; but it will serve the entire state. We also have a Facebook Group (QCWA 158); and I broke the NAVY (Never Again Volunteer Yourself) rule again...by becoming Secretary, Net Control, and Facebook Group admin. You would think that I was bored (hi hi). I have to make a quick PO Box Run on Tuesday. Arkansas NOAA Weather Radio is off the air until Wednesday for system upgrades, but it should be back up by the time the forecast severe storms arrive Wednesday afternoon. Then, the broiler gets turned on, and we'll likely see heat advisories...just in time for the summer solstice late this week. As long as the air conditioner keeps working, I'll be happy. I just saw on Ryan Hall's feed (KJ4WHM) of a severe thunderstorm in Alaska, that was "satellite indicated"!! I installed APRS32IS on my desktop, so I'm available on APRS as N5VLZ-10, if you want to drop a quick message. It is also on my smartphone, which I'll have when I go to the Shreveport and Mena Hamfests. Xfinity was doing work on my internet overnight and today. I hope it'll stay up for my nets. I'm on a BS Diet...bland substance...with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I hope I can do a bit better next month. As the saying goes, I'm only one step away from being rich... all I need is money (hi hi). A health care worker comes by on Thursday. GE Glenn, you will be after Carl. GE Scott...how was your week?? >>> K0WAV: It was a good week, since it was mostly dry for a change. I go in some overdue brush-hogging and cleaned up some fence rows. On the radio front, I just got a tele- remote help session with a friend out in Vegas... he was need some assistance getting JS8Call working on his new FT-710. It was trying but we got it working for direct station to station connection from AR to NV on 20m. There was a big BIG pile up on 6m this past weeked with the VHF test my 6m state count is now up to 32! Daryl FB on the APRS installs and functioning stations! That's it for me BTU >>> ** N5VLZ: Scott, I have a utility where I can check into the Allstar nets (IAXRPT), but I have not installed it yet. The folks on the QCWA 6m net said last week that 6m was HOT from the NE US into Europe!! My lawn gets done again next Tuesday. FB on the JS8Call setup. GE Bob, how was your week?? >>> ** NS2B: GE All! It was a good week. Had a nice fathers day. Went to my favorite Mexican restaurant, and ate too much!! NOAA must've found some cash, my local station was off the air for a couple days for upgrades too. On the radio front I setup my portable 40m dipole, and hooked my G90 up to a battery, and tried some FT8 in a field day like setting. Made a couple contacts, but that's all there was. If 6m was HOT, 40m was NOT! I have an end fed 20m antenna, I'll drag it out tomorrow, and along with a Jackite fiberglass pole I'll try setting that up and see how that goes. Mowed the yard today, so I'm ready for a nap! BTU Daryl >>> ** N5VLZ: Bob, we all tend to overeat when we go out!! Many NWS offices are doing the upgrades. GL on the antennas, and the HF contacts. I thought there was another CME coming, but I may have looked at old data. FB on the mowing...as noted, mine has to wait another week. GE Rick, how was your week?? >>> ** VA7RBP: GE Daryl and all on NET. I had a pretty good week as well. For Father's Day, we went with friends to a PUB in Trail that has great prime rib. I had a 10 oz. with stuffed potato and veggies, medium rare, melt in your mouth, yummm. On the Radio Front, it wasn't so good, almost nothing heard on 40M and 20M PACTOR most of the week. I'm still working on my Field Day prep, same as Bob, I'm going to set up a a mast with a MFJ Big Ears antenna that will do 40M to 10M in the back yard, solar and battery powering my old FT-890, for practice. Well that's all I have, so BTU Daryl >>> ** N5VLZ: Rick, sounds like you had some good food. Bummer on the poor HF conditions, but it's as if that recent CME fried things. I have no plans for Field Day Weekend. GE Carl, how was your week?? >>> ** KX4AC: GE all. Still a bit hectic here. Last Friday, I had more tests (for getting on the transplant list) including a "stress test." NO TREADMILL! They just inject you with something that makes your heart race, etc. I felt awful for hours after, but was OK by the afternoon. They use a radioactive tracer, and I could definitely detect it with my geiger counter, but it is pretty much gone by now (the stuff they use has a 6 hour half-life). Still finding things that need to be fixed around the house, so working on that. On the radio front, I also have not heard much on HF over the last week. I hope it gets better by field day. I think I will just set up my buddy pole in the back yard, and run the 991a off of battery. I guess that's about all for now. Back to net >>> ** N5VLZ: Carl, I have had the treadmill and chemical stress tests. After the treadmill one, the doctor said "you're not in the best of shape, but for the shape you're in, you're in great shape"!! That chemical stress test...it feels like you just got shot with a rifle!! I just wondered if I would glow in the dark (hi hi). Agreed on the HF for FD. GE Glenn, how was your week?? >>> ** N3MEL: GE everyone, it is still rainy here in the east, but looking up for the weekend. Had a nice Father's Day son's and grandkids stop by yesterday and I enjoyed it. Not much new since last week except the June PKTNET started yesterday and we are up to 51 check-ins already. No real plans for FD; if it is not raining I will be N3MEL : working at least during the day on Sat. May setup my ft-891 and mpas vertical with battery here at the house and give out a few points for anyone that wants them.. Bob thanks for your check-in as well! Thats all for now btu Daryl >>> ** N5VLZ: Glenn, FB on the Fathers Day family gathering and the PKTNET. Someone told me of an APRS net from 0000 to 2359 UTC on Thursday, and last week, they had nearly 600 checkins!! That's it for round 1...back to the top for final comments. Scott, anything else for us?? >>> ** K0WAV: Rick a 10oz in Canada? Guess that sells better than a 285gram steak LOL And strangely, the NOAA radio for the 5 NW counties in AR are actually a part of the Tulsa office go figure. No FD here. Thats all BTU >>> ** N5VLZ: Scott, my late XYL and my late brother loved steak...but not me. I knew those NW AR counties were part of the NWS TUL CWA. If I do any FD stuff, it'll be for nets. Thanks for being here. Bob, thanks for the use of the BBS. Anything else for us?? >>> ** NS2B: Nothing more here - everyone have a good week! 73 >>> ** N5VLZ: Thanks for being here, Bob...have a good week. Rick, anything else?? >>> ** VA7RBP: Nope, that's it for me. Everyone have a great week, stay well, 73 until next time. BTU Daryl >>> ** N5VLZ: Thanks for being here, Rick...have a good week. Carl, anything else?? >>> ** KX4AC: Nothing more from Arizona. 73s all around. >>> ** N5VLZ: Thanks for being here, Carl...have a good week. Glenn, anything else for us?? >>> ** N3MEL: No, I think thats all for this week, have a great week everyone and 73>>> ** N5VLZ: Thanks for being here, Glenn...have a good week. Been watching Ryan Hall's YouTube feed of a really photogenic tornado in Nebraska... incredible. That'll do it for tonight's PCL Net. I'll post the scribe later tonight, or in the morning. Everyone stay safe, healthy, weather aware, and radio-active. 73 and GN DE N5VLZ . >>> Daryl Stout, N5VLZ, Little Rock, Arkansas Please see my QRZ bio for more information.
