Thunderstorms are possible tonight across portions of the Tennessee Valley. ...01z Update... Weak short-wave ridging is currently suppressing deep convection across the TN Valley region in the wake of an early-day disturbance. Latest diagnostic data suggests higher Theta-E air mass is beginning to advance slowly northward across the central Gulf States. However, 00z soundings exhibit significant capping at 700mb and deep convection capable of generating lightning will be delayed until stronger low-level warm advection aids parcel lift atop the boundary layer. This is expected later tonight along the southern fringe of a low-amplitude short-wave trough that will eject across the Mid-MS Valley into the OH Valley. Latest guidance suggests LLJ will increase through 06z from northern MS into eastern TN. This should aid elevated convection, but severe is not currently expected due to limited buoyancy. ..Darrow.. 02/27/2021 +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ The older I grow, the less important the comma becomes.
