N5VLZ:

GE All, and welcome to the March 30 2026 PCL
Net. Early checkins from Rick, VA7RBP...and
Bob K4GBE.

Net order is Daryl, Bob (NY), Carl, Bob (OK),
Carl, Wayne, and whoever else shows up.

Our next net holiday is next Monday, April 6,
for Easter week. We have a stormy weather
pattern from mid to late this week, so my late
week and Easter Weekend nets may get washed
out. We have high fire danger statewide, with
55 of the 75 counties under burn bans.

Plus, everybody and their brother will be in
all of the restaurants after church on Sunday.
A local area ham radio club meeting this week
was canceled, due to the Maundy Thursday
activities; and since the meeting is at an area
church, and many members would be involved with
similar activities at their churches...not to
mention parking lot issues.

I was busy with square dance related stuff over
the weekend, with a Celebration Of Life Dance
for a dancer who had passed away on Valentine's
Day. Over 60 people, including family and square
dance friends, came to celebrate, get a brief
introduction to the hobby, and to eat. There was
a bunch of food, and I got to bring home things
of pulled pork and buns for sandwiches, baked
beans, cole slaw, and potato salad. So, that has
been my meals, after the ham radio nets, and
releasing a monthly square dance publication
(which I stayed up all night Saturday night into
Sunday, to prepare). Now, I need extra power naps
to prepare for the storms later this week.

Besides, frequent naps prevent old age, especially
if taken while driving (hi hi).

I'm glad the disability comes in on April Fools Day
(a daily holiday for Congress (hi hi)). I need to
pay my water bill (got an extension on it), and I
have several Hormel Compleats and some Nabisco cookies
that are coming via Amazon next Monday. I still have
$15 on that Papa John's Pizza gift card, and have a
promo for a free order of cheese sticks. So, I will
probably order that Wednesday, as well as ordering
some more tuna salad and fruit punch drink packets
from Kroger. I still have plenty of tuna salad and
bread, so I'm not hurting on food.

My blood pressure cuff hose got kinked, and I can't
get readings. I called the Optum Health Cardiologist,
so I don't know what will happen until I can get that
fixed.

GE Carl, you'll be after Bob (OK).

Now, here's the forwarded message from Rick, VA7RBP:

**

VA7RBP:

We have something going at NET TIME, so I won't be
attending today.

Nothing of note to report for the past couple of
weeks, anyway..

Same old stuff, 40M and 20M PACTOR sessions,
NOON-TIME NETs on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays,
80M OLIVIA 16/1K NET on weeknights, and PREOC
equipment checks in Nelson on Wednesday nights...

I just updated my pilinbpq for the NODE to ver
6.0.25.26, so let me know if anything weird happens
between our systems.

Say HI to everyone for me!

N5VLZ:

GE Bob (NY), how was your week?? >>>

**

NS2B:

GE All.

For the most part is was just cold. But today is the
start of a warmup for us. Made it into the 60s today!
whoo hoo

Saturday was a different story. Was down at the track
for our annual safety training. It actually snowed on
us a bit!

Radio wise, not much going on at the moement. Our
local Winlink admin is getting the bug to start an
AREDN network. So, I'll be shopping for some hardware
for that. It might get interesting!

That's all for me, BTU Daryl >>>

**

N5VLZ:

Bob (NY), FB on the weather, the track training, and
the AREDN stuff. Glad to see folks doing more with the
hobby.

GE Carl, how was your week?? >>>

**

KX4AC:

GE All. Well, it has cooled off just a bit this recent
week, so I am spending as much time as possible outside
before it gets awful :-) I have Skywarn training next
week, so I am looking forward to that and being "official"
again.

I also finally got the right tools to mount my outside
antenna tuner on the concrete block wall where it belongs.
It was both harder (in ways I had not expected) and also
easier (also in ways I had not expected) than I had
anticipated.

My biggest problem was not understanding how the concrete
block anchors worked, but I got it done.

In computer news, we are finally getting close to having
a fiber Internet supplier here. Been waiting for that for
years! It is a company called Wyyerd. I see both good and
bad things about them, but definitely gonna give them a try.
They will be faster and a bit cheaper than my current service,
so it is worth a try.

Still playing HAMWORD; after the net, I will have to check
and see how my first guess this week went.

I have been leaving my mesh thingy on and keeping it charged.
I see several local nodes, but not even a hint of activity.
We shall see.

That's about it for this week. Back to net >>>

**

N5VLZ:

Carl, I need to get my Skywarn recertification done, but it's
another one of those "round tuit" deals (hi hi).

FB on getting the outside antenna tuner, the new fiber optic
deal, HAMWORD, and Mesh. Some have given up on it, as like with
so much in life we want "instant gratification yesterday" (hi hi).

GE Bob (OK), how was your week?? >>>

**

KF5TVG:

GE Daryl and all on the net!

My radio activity has been the equivalent of a deep solar minimum
lately! :(

I did make contact over the weekend with T31TTT (60m FT*) on Kanton
Island in Central Kiribati. I had to look up where that is, and
it's near my old stomping grounds "close" to the Marshall Islands
in the Pacific.

Still trying to get my last WAS on 60m, but DE continues to be a
dry well for me.

Nothing else to report, but wanted to check in and see how everyone
is doing.

BTU Daryl>>>

**

N5VLZ:

Bob (OK), with a recent G3 CME, and all the weekend contesters, HF
was horrible this weekend. You could hear them, but they could not
hear you. Now, I know why the WARC bands were created.

FB on the FT8 contact...hope you can get DE for WAS soon.

GE Charley, glad you made it back...how was your week?? >>>

**

NT5R:

GE Daryl and everyone

Still in SC, Hilton Head Island this week. Weather been cool few
days but warming next few. Jog several miles on beach today. May be
sore tomorrow, different muscles on sand.

Working on getting setup for 44 net operation. Kinda learning as I
go.

Have wireless travel router that will run the proper software. Or
could do possibly on Android.

Carl, have the mesh on locally; not seeing any activity this area.
Also no one local on APRS, only some weather stations showing up.

So btu Daryl>>>

**

N5VLZ:

Charley, I see several stations come in on APRSIS32, but mainly
beacons. I changed my ID to N5VLZ-G, as sometimes, stations would
not show up on APRSIS32, but I would get them on BlueDV.

FB on jogging on the SC beaches....better do it before hurricane
season starts in 2 months.

GL on the 44 net setup...and FB on the wireless travel router.

GE Wayne, didn't think you'd make it...how was your week?? >>>

**

KC2NJV:

Hi Daryl, just got home.... Long week.... and it's monthend...
:) >>>>

**

N5VLZ:

Understand that...the year is already 25% done...sheesh.

**

KC2NJV : Or there is 75% more to go...

**

N5VLZ:

Wayne, that's true.

That's it for round 1...back to the top for final comments.

Bob (NY), thanks for the use of the BBS. Again, I'll send out
the email for "no net next week due to Easter".

Anything else?? >>>

**

NS2B:

Nothing more here - everyone have a good Easter - 73 >>>

**

N5VLZ:

Take care Bob...see you in 2 weeks.

Carl, anything else?? >>>

**

KX4AC:

See you all in two weeks. In the meantime 73s to all. I will
probably be sick from eating too many peeps :-) >>>

**

N5VLZ:

Carl...yeah, no kidding. That's like the guy saying he going
to a peep show...but this one is to watch newborn baby chicks
(hi hi). Thanks for being here.

Bob (OK), anything else?? >>>

**

KF5TVG:

Carl, I forgot about the peeps! the peeps!!

Nothing else, Hope all have a great Easter. BTU Daryl>>>

**

N5VLZ:

Bob (OK), that reminds me about the meme of these 2 chocolate
Easter bunnies. One has his ears bit off, and the other has
his tail bit off. The one with his tail bit off says "My butt
hurts", and the other one says "What??" (hi hi).

Thanks for being here.

Charley, anything else?? >>>

**

NT5R:

Well I must lead a sheltered life. Buddy here had to explain
what are PEEPS!

Bob and Daryl, thanks for all for net. Everyone have a good
Easter and awesome next two weeks

73 di-dit >>>

**

N5VLZ:

Charley, it's our pleasure...safe travels to you, sir.

Wayne, anything else?? >>>

KC2NJV:

Bob, I tried PACNET again, no one was there and then came here,
so I think you need to change the instructions....

Hope everyong enjoys there holidays... 73, >>>>

**

NS2B : ok, we'll do that >>>

**

N5VLZ:

Wayne, thanks for being here. Bob, when you get that changed for
the connection message/info for the net, please let me know as well.

**

NS2B:

will do >>>

**

N5VLZ:

That will do it for tonight's net. Again, no net next week, due to
Easter...but remember the true meaning of the day is not about bunnies
and candy.

We'll see everyone in 2 weeks on April 13 (entered the wrong date
during the net, but corrected it in the scribe), Lord Willing, and
weather permitting.

73, Happy Easter, and GN DE N5VLZ >>>
